Innovative technologies employed by Ukraine in its battle against Russian aggression are indeed important, but the human factor is important still more. One needs to analyze the final outcome of this type of weaponry onto future warfare.
This was the key message by General Pekka Toveri, MEP (Finland), Director of the Intelligence Directorate of the Finnish Defense Command (2019-20), at the 17th Annual Kyiv Security Forum “UA: UNITE AGAIN TO DEFEAT THE GLOBAL AGGRESSOR”, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine”.
“To protect democracy, one needs to spend money on various things. When it comes to technology… There is no magic weapon capable of U-turning the course of this war in the snap of a finger,” he said.

According to General Toveri, in any war a lot depends on the will of people, countries, nations, as well as on technology.
“Technology is important, but let’s not forget about people. What do we see? Weapons fight with weapons. Drones are indeed important because they are novelty weaponry, and we are only now inventing counter-weapons for these UAVs. Still, we have to analyze the ultimate effect of these weapons onto future warfare,” he added.
The MEP is convinced that artificial intelligence (AI) presence and participation in this war makes the very course of it, as well as its duration more difficult to project.
The Kyiv Security Forum, organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk “Open Ukraine” foundation, is the main platform in Ukraine to discuss issues of war and peace, national and global security.
